A really good quality back protector should be high on your list of must-wear riding kit, and they don’t get a whole lot better than this Wave Air from Dainese.
The Wave Air has been developed through Dainese’s Moto GP racing development program using the very best riders – and most spectacular crashers – in the world. They may not have kerbs, lampposts and cars to contend with, but you can be sure that their involvement in product development has had a very positive impact (sic) on the end product.
Homologated to EN 1621.2 Standard Level 2 – which is the highest level of CE protection – the Wave Air has rigid external corrugated plates for better impact energy distribution and a lightweight core made of aluminum honeycomb which absorbs the impact, spreads the load and therefore minimizing the force.
When developing the back protector the riders were also looking for comfort and ventilation whilst keeping light weight and nimble. Dainese have delivered this by sculpting the areas around the body shape, and using a patented lumbar support joint, creating a cooling air flow whilst using the best materials available to keep the weight down to a minimum.
It’s race level protection for your daily ride.
